Frequently Asked Questions

clean-wax

What is a bikini wax?
Hair is removed from outside the panty line.

What is a Brazilian Bikini wax?
Leaves a vertical stripe in front, two to three fingers in width. Hair is not removed from the labia. Hair is removed from the tush. Hair is NOT removed from between the buttocks.

What is a Playboy wax?
All hair is removed from the labia, all hair is removed from the tush, including between the buttocks, and only a very narrow strip is left in the front. It is named after Playboy magazine because that’s what you see on the Playmates.

What is a Full Monty wax?
It’s all taken off, baby. Everywhere. Everything. Bald.

Why Brazilian Waxing?
It will not only make you feel fresher, but you will be fresher. You will not have the stubble, the itch or the razor burn that comes with shaving, and you don’t have to worry about slicing yourself with a razor blade. It lasts much longer than shaving, four to eight weeks. It’s great for swimmers and sunbathers. You don’t have to worry about making a wrong move and baring hair. Just the thing for those skimpy bikinis. You’ll be able to get that all over tan more effectively, whether under the sun or in the tanning bed. …And your husband (or significant other) will love it!

What do I say when I call for my first appointment?
Be firm and use a strong voice. It’s your body, this is very personal, and it’s in your own best interest to speak up and speak clearly. You should explain that you want all the hair from your behind and labia majora removed. Just say it right out! I’ve have heard it all so don’t be shy. It’s better to be clear about your expectations over the telephone than to go to all of the trouble of setting your appointment, looking forward to your appointment, but not knowing what to expect

Can’t I just do it myself?
No. Don’t try to wax this delicate area by yourself. It’s difficult to apply the wax, hold the skin taut, get the right leverage, then pull and pull quickly, all at the same time. It’s not like waxing your legs where all the hair grows in the same direction. On the labia for example, hairs tend to grow pell mell in more than one direction. This often requires waxing each side twice – once in each direction. To attempt your own Brazilian wax means worthless pain, let me clarify, pain without getting the hair out and ugly purple bruising. Seek out an expert for this job.

Is it itchy when it grows back?
This varies from individual to individual and from waxing to waxing. In contrast, the itch from shaving is guaranteed to drive you crazy – two days dedicated to maintaining a ladylike composure when all you really want to do is scratch.

How often do you need it done?
Frequency averages four to eight weeks. It really depends on how fast your hair grows, and how much hair you have. That varies from person to person.

How long does the hair need to be?
If there is a down side to the Brazilian, this is it. Those hairs have to be about 1/4 of an inch long in order for the wax to grab and pull it out so you have to let it grow out for your follow-up appointments. For a first wax, do trim a bit if you have long hair. Long hairs make the aesthetician’s job a little harder and may give you more discomfort.

What about in-growns?
This varies from individual to individual. It’s just like waxing any other part of your body. In-growns are possible. Use a washcloth and wash briskly in the shower and/or towel off briskly after bathing to discourage in-growns. Based on getting other parts of your body waxed you can make a pretty good judgement as to whether in-growns may be problematic for you.

I’m worried about the pain.
Shall I take Advil before my appointment?
If you think the Advil may decrease the pain, then take some. It might help.

I’m getting married
I want to get a Brazilian especially for my honeymoon, but when will the redness be completely gone?
All redness is gone by the next morning.

Does it hurt less the second time?
Yes! Yes! Emphatically yes! If you don’t wait too long, the second time around the hairs will be shorter, thinner and sparser because they’re not fully matured. This makes removal a little less painful (still hurts) and has the added bonus of shortening the length of your appointment. The second wax is more effective than a first wax too. There is so much hair being removed the very first time that some of the hairs may actually be broken off at the surface rather than removed from the follicle, and so the regrowth is faster.

I can’t do it. I just can’t do it.
I’m afraid of the pain. What do I do?
Worry not. You have an option. Just get your behind done. Lots of ladies get their behind and front patch done, but not the labia.
